Graham Crackers = Cow Love

I have to confess that this holiday break has been everything our family needed. Slowing down to take in a good book, playing a card game with the kids and creating simple, homemade meals and treats has been the highlight of the last ten days. No alarms, no hustle and bustle, no emails for work.

Justin has been managing the chores each morning during the break. As he continues to share with our family and friends that I am a "fair weather farmer", I figure I might as well play the part. This morning however, I decided to take my turn and see what all the fuss was about with Ozzy, the bull who seems to have determined this holiday break was for testing Justin's patience.

I would like to share that my husband is making it all up and Ozzy is actually the sweetest, most docile bull known to man. However, in just the first 5 minutes of my duties, the feed wasn't even close to the trough and the cows were licking it off the ground as Ozzy refused to let me through the gate. But I was determined - so after I fed the chickens, filled waters and gave hay to the goats, I trekked it back up to the house for the only solution: graham crackers.

Though Indie started this whole obsession with graham crackers, I figured - if it works for getting licks and a good snuggle with Indie - it can't hurt to try with Ozzy. And to my delight, after the girls got their fair take, Ozzy ate his first graham cracker out of my hand and in return, he let me scratch his nose. I am pretty sure we have confirmed that graham crackers = cow love. Farm math is the best math.
